Russian FM tells Mashaal Moscow intends to keep up contact with Hamas

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Saturday night said that Moscow believes in the need to maintain contacts with Hamas, Reuters reported. "We are certain that this is needed," the Interfax news agency quoted Lavrov as saying after a meeting exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal in Damascus. Lavrov was in Syria to attend a summit of foreign ministers of Islamic countries.
