'Palestine' will become an official member of the ICC in early March, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said on Friday.

In an interview with a Lebanese TV station, Erekat acknowledged the failure of a resolution calling for an Israeli withdrawal by 2017 to win sufficient support at the United Nations Security Council.

The recent vote at the UN was a clear "message" to Washington, Erekat said, even as the Palestinians were "aware" the resolution would not pass.
