The Education Ministry announced on Wednesday that students across the country will devote an hour lesson to the subject of Internet safety this week, ahead of the upcoming summer break.

The initiative was taken upon the request of Education Minister Shai Piron, who said he perceives the Internet as a space with a variety of challenges, which emphasize the need and obligation of adults to guide children on safe and respectful Internet usage.

Director-general of the ministry, Dalit Stauber issued a circular to school principals in order to guide educators on how to start a dialogue with students on the issue.

Lesson plans for teachers and guidelines for parents’ handling of the subject were made available on the Ministry’s website on Wednesday.
