Shmuel Ben Artzi, the father of Sara Netanyahu, died Wednesday morning at the age of 97.

Sara Netanyahu, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and their two children were by her father's side at the time of his death.

Ben Artzi was born in Poland in 1933 and immigrated to Israel, serving in the the Hagana and later the Israel Defense Forces.

He lived his last days in the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem where his daughter and medical staff tended to him.
