The IDF on Tuesday detained three senior Hamas officials in the West Bank, Palestinian sources said.

The three men were held by IDF soldiers for one hour at a checkpoint before being taken into custody, the sources said.

One of them is Dr Abdel Aziz Dweik, the speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Dweik was one of many Hamas officials who were rounded up by the IDF shortly after the abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Schalit in the Gaza Strip. He was released after serving a 30-month prison term.

Two Hamas legislators who were with Dweik were also detained by the IDF. They are Nizar Ramadan and Anwar al-Zuboun.
