Science, Technology and Space Ministry reverts to original name

The cabinet on Sunday approved the request of Science, Technology and Space Minister Ofir Akunis to switch back its name to the Science and Technology Ministry.

The name had been expanded when Yaakov Pery, who was minister for three months before being named ambassador to the UN, decided to add the word “space.”

The ministry spokeswoman said the cost of making the change on signs and stationery would reach “only a few thousands of shekels.”

Asked for the minister’s motivation for the return of the old name, the spokeswoman said that “he checked and found that no other science and technology ministry in the world includes the word ‘space.”'
