The Southern District Attorney's Office on Wednesday filed its first indictment against a Hamas operative since the start of Operation Protective Edge.

The indictment against Ibrahim Abu Lahya was filed with the Beersheba District Court on charges of contact with a foreign agent and membership in an illegal organization.

The indictment stated that Abu Lahya had undergone a Hamas military officers' training course among other charges and a Justice Ministry statement said that more charges were expected following ongoing interrogation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and police.
