Summer school to re-open Monday morning

The Education Ministry announced Sunday night that the Summer School program will resume in schools throughout the country on Monday following new guidelines issued by Home Front Command (HFC).
To date, due to the barrage of rocket fire on municipalities surrounding Gaza, the HFC issued orders that schools within a 40km. radius of Gaza would remain closed. On Sunday evening, the HFC changed its standing orders and said that the Summer School program could operate in communities within a 0-7km. radius in protected shelters. In communities within a 7 to 40km. radius of the Strip, the camps could operate in or in close proximity to a protected area.
Michal Cohen, director-general of the Education Ministry issued a statement Sunday night assuring parents that the schools were ready to accept children and said all children would practice going into a protected shelter at the beginning of the day.
