Technion and France’s École Polytechnique to sign academic cooperation agreement

The Technion and France’s renowned Ecole Polytechnique will sign an academic cooperation agreement on Tuesday, in the presence of French President Francois Hollande, President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The agreement states that the two institutions “wish to share their experience and skills in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Ecole Polytechnique and the Technion had previously held joint student exchange programs during which French students worked at the Technion’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The latest agreement aims to “strengthen the academic ties between the two institutions, promote cooperation, expand learning opportunities, enrich teaching and research environments as well as foster international and cultural understanding.”

Technion President Prof. Peretz Lavie said that the new cooperation “adds an important new dimension to international relations at the Technion.”

He added that “Israel and France have a long history of warm friendship and the common language of science” and that partnering with École Polytechnique will greatly contribute to the Technion.

President of Ecole Polytechnique Jacques Bio and a group of 100 heads of French companies visited the Technion ahead of the signing on Monday.
