Following Israel's removal of the controversial metal detectors overnight on Wednesday, thousands of Palestinians have returned to the Temple Mount.

There is a heavy security presence at the compound. Palestinians began returning to the site after a week of refusing to enter the complex. In addition to removing the metal detectors, Israel also removed the security cameras it had installed at the site.
