Chief Justice of the Nazareth District Court, Judge Yitzhak Cohen, announced Wednesday he would be resigning, amid a pending investigation into his possible involvement in a string of sex crimes.

A government spokesperson confirmed Cohen was stepping down.

The claims against him are based on testimony that alleges the judge sexually harassed family relatives while they were still minors. Cohen had denied the allegations against him, calling them baseless.

He has been on leave since early September.
