US National Security Adviser General H.R. McMaster said Thursday in an interview that President Donald Trump will make a "major announcement'' regarding North Korea by the end of the day.

Trump gave a speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Monday in which he threatened to ''totally destroy'' North Korea and repeatedly referred to its leader, Kim Jong-Un, as 'Rocket Man.'

In the last several months, North Korea has tested and fired several intercontinental ballistic missiles, one of which recently entered into Japanese sovereign territory. The country's actions have been seen as threatening to the stability of the region, as their missiles may have the capability to reach the US, prompting forceful responses from American leaders.
