TUNIS - Tunisian police shot dead an Islamist militant in the suburb of Rawad, just outside the capital Tunis, on Tuesday, an interior ministry official said.

The incident comes after a spike in Islamist attacks in the country, which is grappling with the worst political crisis since the 2011 ouster of its autocratic president. On Sunday, police killed a militant in Tunis and arrested four others.
