Turkel Committee approves nomination of Karnit Flug to head Bank of Israel

The Turkel Committee, responsible for approving high-level nominations, approved the nomination of Karnit Flug to be Bank of Israel governor on Wednesday night.
Flug's appointment will now go before the government for final approval on Sunday.
Flug has been acting chief since Stanley Fischer stepped down in June, and, despite being Fischer's preferred choice, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yair Lapid struggled through two failed attempts to fill the post before tapping her for the role on Sunday.
