Two structures demolished in east Jerusalem

Two structures were demolished in Jerusalem on Tuesday, one in the neighborhood of Ras-al-Amud and one in Nu'aman, a small village between between Beit Lehem and Har Homa, according to the Israeli Committee Against Demolitions. The municipality confirmed the destruction of a home in Ras-al-Amud but did not confirm the destruction in Nu'aman.
According to ICAD, five members of the Shawara family lived in the house in Nua'man. The municipality reported that the owner of the structure in Ras-al-Amud completed the destruction himself after receiving notification from the municipality. "There has been a really strong return to housing demolitions after they were frozen for a good few months," said Sahar Vardi, a field coordinator for ICAD.
"Nobody cares when we build a school for 900 students in Ras-al-Amud, but everyone calls when a one-room structure is demolished," said a municipality spokesman.
