DUBAI - A United Arab Emirates (UAE) court on Tuesday convicted scores of defendants at the end of a trial of 94 Islamists charged with plotting to overthrow the government, jailing many for 10 years, Abu Dhabi television reported.

In addition, eight of the 94 were convicted in absentia by the Federal Supreme Court and sentenced to 15 years in jail, while 26 of the defendants were acquitted, the television station reported.
