US-Japan work together to intercept N. Korean missiles

The United States is working closely with Japanese officials to install a radar that would aid in the early detection of missiles originating in North Korea, AFP reported on Sunday.

The "X-band radar" is able to detect the projectile direction and summons the US army to intercept the missiles once in flight. This will be the second radar system provided to Japan by the US, and it will be installed in an Air Force base northwest of Kyoto.

The location of the radar is crucial not only to Japan, but also to the US, as it is on the trajectory track of missiles aimed at the areas of Guam and Hawaii.
