US: Lockdown issued at Va Tech campus after online alert

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Authorities issued a lockdown on Thursday at the campus of Virginia Tech, site of a 2007 mass shooting that killed 32 people, the school said.

An alert on the school's website said: "Person with a gun reported near Dietrick (a campus building). Stay inside. Secure doors. Emergency personnel responding. Call 911 for help."
