US envoy Shapiro: Differences between US, Israel on Iran legitimate

Amid tensions between Washington and Jerusalem over an intermediate deal with Iran in regards to its nuclear program, US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro said Friday that both countries' common goal was to keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Speaking in an interview with Israel Radio, Shapiro emphasized US President Barack Obama's determination and commitment to the goal.
He added that if an intermediate deal with Iran is reached, it will only lightly ease sanctions. He also said that the difference in opinions between Washington and Jerusalem is legitimate, and that the close relationship between the allies will survive the current controversy.
