WASHINGTON – A new task force launched in Washington on Wednesday to formulate policy recommendations for the US to effectively deal with Iran after what it describes as an unfruitful strategy of engagement.

The Iran Strategy Task Force “Beyond Sanctions: The Next Iran Strategy,” under the aegis of the Freedom House and the Progressive Policy Institute, comprises leading Iran experts and activists, including former administration officials.

It seeks to stake out positions on the non-nuclear aspects of what’s happening in Iran, particularly its human rights record and its posture in the region.
