US-led forces have launched 10 air strikes in Syria and eight in Iraq against Islamic State militants since Thursday, the American military said on Friday.

The Combined Joint Task Force said the strikes in Syria hit near Kobani, the border city recently recaptured by Kurdish forces fighting the Islamist militant group, and near Al Hasakah.

The strikes in Iraq hit near Baiji, Al Asad, Al Qaim, Fallujah and Mahkmur, the task force said.
