A new immigrant who made aliya from the United States earlier this year was caught this week allegedly trying to smuggle dozens of illegal commando knives in a shipping container delivered to the Haifa port.

The 55-year-old suspect also allegedly tried to smuggle in dozens of bottles of alcohol and two pianos that he did not declare to customs.

The man claimed that he had ordered the shipping company to send him different personal items, and the delivery of the knives was a mistake.
