WASHINGTON - The United States has relayed "regret" through the Russian government for the unintentional loss of life of Syrian forces in a coalition strike on Saturday, a senior Obama administration official said.

The United States will continue to pursue compliance with a ceasefire in Syria as it continues military action against Islamic State and al Qaeda, the official said in an emailed statement.
