US slams Eritrea for supporting al-Qaida-linked extremists

The United States criticized Eritrea for destabilizing activities in Somalia, warning that it could soon face sanctions unless it stops support for Somali extremists. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said Wednesday that Eritrea has been supporting extremists, including some linked to al-Qaida. Their backing is destabilizing the Horn of Africa and posing a threat to international security, Rice said.
