One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another wounded in fighting with pro-Russian separatists in east Ukraine, military spokesman Vladislav Seleznyov said on Thursday, despite a ceasefire deal meant to decrease tensions.

Another military spokesman said rebels had violated the ceasefire, agreed in Minsk last month, with 40 attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions and civilian targets, including 17 artillery attacks.
