White House says open to 'tactical' talks with Russia on Syria

WASHINGTON - While there is no military solution to the crisis in Syria, the Obama administration would still welcome cooperation from Russia to address unrest in the region, the White House said on Thursday.

The United States "remains open to tactical, practical discussions" with Russia over the fight against Islamic State in Syria, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a briefing.
