With Israel Beiteinu's help, Knesset shoots down civil marriage bill

The Knesset plenum on Wednesday rejected a bill that would have paved the way towards legalizing civil marriages in Israel. Both Labor and Israel Beiteinu, who made civil union a central part of their platform entering the elections, did not support the bill, with some MKs voting against and some opting not to attend the vote.
