Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon spoke with new US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter on Tuesday.

Carter replaced Chuck Hagel as secretary of defense last week.

Ya'alon said that during the conversation he expressed to Carter his appreciation for Israel's relationship with the US and the defense cooperation between the two states.

"We will work together to meet our shared challenges and we will know how to share our opinions on changes occurring to the benefit of both states and peoples. I wish you success and wait with bated breath to work with you," Ya'alon told Carter.
