Ya'alon to Ban: Hezbollah must be dealt with as an enemy

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon on Friday warned UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the factors involved in regional instability.

"The only stable thing in the Middle East is the lack of stability," Ya'alon said.

"Hezbollah is Iran's main weapon against Israel" Ya'alon said during a meeting in Jerusalem. He added that the militant Shi'ite organization "is a state within a state" that receives weapons from Iran and Syria and must be dealt with as an enemy.

Ya'alon expressed his gratitude to Ban for the presence of UN peacekeeping forces on the border with Syria and southern Lebanon.
