Zilber: Culture Minister oversteps in Haifa Art scandal

Deputy Attorney General Dina Zilber said on Tuesday that Culture Minister Miri Regev "lacked legal grounding" when she addressed the Haifa Art Museum demanding it takes down artworks.
The "Sacred Goods" exhibition in the museum features a work by Janei Leinonen in which Ronald McDonald is crucified. The art-work led to clashes between police and  hundreds of Arab Christians on Friday.
Minister Regev said that an offensive presentation of Jesus "the most important religious symbol to Christians worldwide" cannot pass under the cover of "freedom of expression" and "cannot function as an [art] piece in a cultural institution that is given state support."
