Ariel Sharon Park, at heart of Tel Aviv metropolis, to get bus stop

Following a visit to the Gush Dan’s Ariel Sharon Park last week, Transportation Minister Israel Katz pledged to make the former garbage dump-turned-oasis more accessible to members of the public.As part of the meeting, the minister instructed his professional staff members to enable safe entrance to the park on Road 461, by constructing both a traffic lit junction as well as a bus stop, according to park staff. Up until now, the park has been entirely inaccessible to public transportation.A portion of the park first opened to the public in May 2011 – atop the former Hiriya garbage dump. Since then, more and more areas in the 800-hectare area below have gradually opened, offering bike paths, green spaces, wooded areas and other recreation sites."This is a crucial decision for the park," said Moshe Borochov, CEO of Ariel Sharon Park. "One great barrier standing before us was coping with difficult access routes to the park. This decision will increase the number of visitors to the park and allow comfortable and safe entry to the various park complexes."
