Credit card purchases made by private consumers rose 8.8 percent in fixed prices over 2005, following 11.1% growth in 2004, the Central Bureau of Statistics said Sunday.
Payments for services rose 14.1% in 2005, led by government and municipality services and utilities, which rose 20.1%. Purchases of industrial goods by credit card rose 13.7%, led by purchases of clothing and footwear, which climbed 19.9%. Credit card purchases of computers and software led with 21.7% growth last year, while food and drink purchases grew only 5.5%. The volume of insurance payments made by credit card gained 17%.
