The price hike is in response to the falling dollar and the continuing rise in fuel prices.

EL-AL will be increasing the price of plane tickets by 3.5 percent due to the dollar's erosion and the continuing rise in fuel prices, the company announced Tuesday. The increase will range from $5 for short-distance flights to $16 for flights to more distant locations. The new prices will go into effect on February 26. "As far as the Israeli client is concerned, even after the prices' update, the realistic price of the plane tickets will stay the same as it was a year ago... due to the weakening of the American dollar in comparison to the shekel," EL-AL commerce chief Rami Levy said.
