The Air Force struck three targets in the Gaza Strip overnight Tuesday, in retaliation for Palestinian rocket fire on Sderot and its surrounding area over the past two days.

The IDF spokesman said aircraft struck two weapons production sites and a weapons warehouse in northern Gaza.

“We identified an accurate hit. All of our planes returned safely to base,” he said. “The attack is a response to the rocket fire on Israeli territory.” The spokesman added that the army viewed Hamas as the responsible entity.

Palestinian sources said one of the targets reached is a Hamas general intelligence headquarters.

On Monday, a Palestinian rocket exploded outside of Sderot just as parents took their children to their first day of school after the end of the summer vacation. The Color Red alert sounded, prompting parents and children to run for cover.

On Sunday, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired three rockets at the Sderot area.

Two of the rockets landed in the industrial area of Sderot, causing damage to two factories – one of which had been badly damaged in a previous rocket attack – and a third landed in an open field, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.
