An explosive device was detonated Monday morning along the southern portion of the security fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip, the army said. No Israeli soldiers were injured.
According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, "terrorist elements are taking advantage of the area adjacent to the fence in order to plant bombs and commit acts of terrorism against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians."
"The IDF views any attempt to harm soldiers and civilians with great gravity," the army said.
Military sources said that the device exploded on the Palestinian side of the Gaza security fence.
Last week, Palestinian terrorists detonated a bomb on the border between southern Gaza and Israel. IDF sources said the explosive was planted on the Gazan side of the fence, and was an attempt to kill soldiers in the area.
