A Palestinian terror suspect was shot dead during clashes that erupted when the IDF embarked on a security raid in Jenin overnight Tuesday.
Security forces entered Jenin to arrest a wanted security suspect and encountered a riot in which gunmen opened fire on troops, and Molotov cocktails and homemade grenades were hurled by Palestinians.
Soldiers responded by opening fire at one of the lead rioters, who was lightly injured and evacuated to an Israeli hospital.
During the disturbances, security forces identified the security suspect they had originally come to arrest. The suspect fled, and was shot and seriously wounded, the IDF said.
He was evacuated to an Israeli hospital, where he died of his wounds.
A Palestinian security source later identified the victim as 20-year-old Islam al-Tubasi. The militant group Islamic Jihad issued a statement mourning Tubasi as one of its members.
