Two men have pleaded guilty in New York City on the eve of a trial on charges accusing them of trying to supply missiles and assault weapons to militants involved in the civil war in Sri Lanka. Two other defendants pleaded to the same charges a day earlier.
Jury selection had begun Tuesday when Sahilal Sabaratnam and Thiruthanikan Thanigasalam entered their pleas.
The Sri Lankan immigrants were charged with terrorism because the State Department considers the rebel force, known as the Tamil Tigers, a terrorist organization.
In 2006, three of the men met with undercover agents posing as black-market arms dealers. Prosecutors say they were caught on tape agreeing to buy 10 surface-to-air missiles and 500 rifles.
