Intelligence officials and a resident say at least three Pakistani militants have been killed in a suspected US missile attack close to the Afghan border. Villager Yar Mohammed said Friday's attack targeted an abandoned school in the village of Medan in South Waziristan. Two intelligence officials confirmed the strike. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. South Waziristan is believed home to many al-Qaida and Taliban leaders.
