Afghan and coalition forces killed 4 insurgents north of Kabul

Afghan and coalition forces killed four insurgents in a firefight north of Kabul, the US military said Friday. A military statement said the fighting broke out when troops from the US-led coalition were searching a compound associated with Hizb-e-Islami, an Islamic faction led by warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. The statement said people barricaded in the compound fired on the troops. Coalition and Afghan forces returned fire - killing four people and capturing three others. The clash occurred in northern Kapisa province's Tagab district. Provincial Police Chief Matyullah Safi confirmed the four deaths and that they were members of Hizb-e-Islami. US forces said they also detained five suspected insurgents in a separate strike in Khost province.
