Canada to free Syrian terror suspect after 7 years

A Canadian federal court judge decided Friday to release a suspected Syrian terrorist who has spent more than seven years in mostly segregated custody in Canada without charges. Justice Richard Mosley said in a written statement that Hassan Almrei's continued detention can no longer be justified. Almrei, 34, was arrested in October 2001, in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in the US.
