China: North Korea to submit a declaration of its nuclear program

North Korea will submit a declaration of its nuclear program, China said Thursday, a step that could see the US start removing it from its terrorism blacklist. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei says that on June 26, North Korea "will submit its nuclear declaration to the chair of the six-party talks and the United States will implement its obligations to remove the designation of (North Korea) as a state sponsor of terrorism and to terminate applications of the Trading with the Enemy Act." Wu did not take questions Thursday, and it was not immediately clear if North Korea had already submitted the declaration. Washington said earlier this week it would start to remove North Korea from terrorism and sanctions blacklists after the declaration is handed over.
