India urges UN to impose sanctions on group linked to terror attacks

India's leaders are pressing the UN Security Council for sanctions against a Pakistani group and its leader accused of links to the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, last month. Pakistan's ambassador said such measures already are being considered within its borders. India and the United States believe that Jemaat-ud-Dawa, which calls itself a charitable and educational organization, is a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group believed to have orchestrated the three-day siege that left 171 people dead and crippled large parts of India's financial capital.
