Moderate quake in Bering Strait shakes northwest Alaska

A moderate earthquake is being reported in the Bering Strait region separating Alaska from Russia.
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says the quake struck at 5:41 a.m. local time Sunday. It had a preliminary magnitude of 5.0.
The earthquake was centered 34 miles (55 kilometers) southwest of Point Hope.
There are no immediate reports of damage.
