Moderate quake shakes California desert; no damage, injuries reported

A moderate earthquake has shaken a remote swath of the Mojave Desert.
The US Geological Survey says the 4.2-magnitude quake struck shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday near the San Bernardino County town of Ludlow.
The area is about 193 kilometers northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
San Bernardino County fire dispatch supervisor Jaime Vilches says his department has received no reports of damage or injuries.
