A British court has ordered radical Muslim cleric Abu Qatada to be returned to jail for violating bail.
The court on Tuesday ordered him to be held under immigration laws.
Abu Qatada was jailed in 2002 over accusations that he played a key role in raising money for extremist groups and provided spiritual advice to militants planning terror attacks. But he was later granted bail and released subject to a 22-hour-a-day curfew.
Britain's Home Office said that Abu Qatada - described by a Spanish judge as Osama bin Laden's representative in Europe - has extensive contacts that could help him evade authorities.
The government has been trying to deport him to Jordan, but British courts have ruled that he could face torture related to two bombings there.
