Iran has hanged nine people, including a woman, convicted of murder, the country's state-owned newspaper said Thursday.
A report by the IRAN newspaper said all the convicts were hanged in Evin prison north of Teheran. They were identified only by their first names.
The hangings took place Wednesday after the country's Supreme Court approved the death sentences.
The woman, whose first name was Tayyabeh, was found guilty of burying her 8-year-old stepdaughter alive in a forest near a Teheran suburb.
Murder, rape, armed robbery, kidnapping and drug trafficking are all punishable with the death penalty under Iran's Islamic penal law.
