The Jerusalem Post New York Edition, the most ambitious foray by an Israeli newspaper into the American newspaper market, launches on Sunday with 105,000 copies being distributed with the New York Post. The New York Edition, which features a mix of hard news, features and comment from Israel, along with original material from New York, is going out to selected neighborhoods of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Riverdale section of the Bronx. A 48-page tabloid, it will be carried free of charge inside the New York Post every Sunday. "Putting together the first issue has been a real pleasure because I know New Yorkers who care about Israel have never had anything like it before," said the New York Edition's editor Lawrence Rifkin. "It's a paper that's fresh, immediate and on top of the news. But it also showcases aspects of Israel that The Jerusalem Post covers so well and that don't feature in most other media reporting on Israel: innovation, the environment, archeology, the arts. "All that, along with reporting from New York itself, makes for a newspaper that I hope New Yorkers will take to their hearts." The Jerusalem Post New York Edition is the latest addition to the group's growing range of publications, which include the bi-weekly independent newsmagazine The Jerusalem Report, the weekly Jerusalem Post International Edition, the Post's monthly Christian Edition, the weekly French Edition and an array of monthly magazines for younger readers in Israel and abroad.
