A car bomb killed a prosecutor in southern Russia on Tuesday, and two security personnel were fatally wounded by gunfire as they arrived on the scene, officials said.
The violence underscored the growing instability in the republic of Dagestan. The impoverished and mainly Muslim republic has suffered from a spillover of the decade-old separatist conflict in neighboring Chechnya.
