Report: Khatami withdraws from Iranian presidential election

Former Iranian president Muhammad Khatami reportedly announced on Monday his withdrawal from the country's presidential election in June. Reuters quoted a close Khatami ally as saying, "He has decided to withdraw... but he will back another moderate candidate who will be announced shortly in a statement." No reason was given for the decision.
