Russia allows transit of NATO Afghanistan supplies across its territory

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed an agreement Thursday allowing Spain to send supplies across Russian territory to its troops serving as part of NATO's 51,000-strong contingent in Afghanistan, the Kremlin said.
The Foreign Ministry also said Germany will be allowed to use Russian railroads to ship supplies for its troops.
Relations between NATO and Russia have been roiled by US missile defense plans in Europe and Russia's invasion of Georgia in August.
